January 2026 Reading Prompts
It’s time for a new year of reading prompts. I’ve put together my annual set, which you can find here, and I’ll be adding two new prompts each month. These are for anyone who needs a little nudge when deciding what to read, or for readers who want an extra challenge throughout the year.
Prompt #1: Read a book about second chances or starting over.
The new year is all about starting fresh. Read a book where the character attempts to start over or atone for something.
Here are a few other suggestions:
- Pet Sematary by Stephen King (It doesn’t have to be a happy second chance!)
- The Great Alone by Kristin Hannah
- The Midnight Library by Matt Haig
- You Are Here by David Nichols
- Less by Andrew Sean Greer
- Seven Days in June by Tia WIlliams
- The First Fifteen Lives of Harry August by Claire North
- All Our Wrong Todays by Elan Mastai
Prompt #2: Read a book that’s been on your TBR for more than two years
The prompt itself is pretty explanatory, and everyone’s list will be different, but here are a few of mine that I still need to get to:
