June 2026 Reading Prompts
It’s time for a new set of pop-up prompts. These are for anyone who needs a little nudge when deciding what to read each month, or for readers who want an extra challenge throughout the year.
Prompt #1: Read an LGBTQIA+ love story.
It’s pride month, which means it’s time to read an LGBTQIA+ love story written by an LGBTQIA+ author. OWN voices only!
Here are a few other suggestions (there are so many more out there!):
- You Should See Me in a Crown by Leah Johnson
- Aristotle & Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe by Benjamin Alire Saenz
- The House in the Cerulean Sea by T J Klune
- Chef’s Choice by TJ Alexander
- Football Sundae by Daryl Banner
- Love & Other Disasters by Anita Kelly
Prompt #2: Prompt #2: Read a book where the setting acts as a central character.
Sometimes where the book takes place is just as important as the characters themselves.
Here are a few other suggestions:
- The Terror by Dan Simmons
- American Psycho by Brett Easton Ellis
- Cutting for Stone by Abraham Verghese
- Midnight in the Garden of Good & Evil by John Berendt
