November Reading Wrap-up & December Hopefuls
Another month passed me by before I realized it. I’m starting to think it’s time to retire the podcast and focus more on the blog and Instagram seeing as how that’s where I get a majority of my traffic. I might do a year’s end/best of episode to wrap it up – we’ll see.
I read quite a few books in November. Starting with my top 4 reads of the month, here’s a quick overview of what I read with links to the reviews:
5 Star reads:
My only five-star book this month was “Anyone’s Ghost” though a few others came close!
4 to 4.75 Star Reads:
- Intermezzo by Sally Rooney
- Sugar, Baby by Celine Saintclare
- When the World Tips Over by Jandy Nelson
- Is She Really Going Out With Him? by Sophie Cousens
- The Merriest Misters by Timothy Janovsky
- How My Neighbor Stole Christmas by Megan Quinn
- I’ll Be Gone for Christmas by Georgia K. Boone
- Love You a Latke by Amanda Elliot
- One Day in December by Josie Silver
3 to 3.75 Star Reads:
The rest of the books that I read this month all fell in this range. They were all good reads, they just didn’t quite move me the way the others did.
- What the Woods Took by Courtney Gould
- Dirty Diana by Jen Besser & Shana Feste
- Memorials by Richard Chizmar
- The Rules of Royalty by Cale Dietrich
- The Bright Sword by Lev Grossman
- The Lightning Bottles by Marissa Stapley
- Like Mother, Like Mother by Susan Rieger
- Make the Season Bright by Ashley Herring-Blake
- One Big Happy Family by Susan Mallery
- In a Holidaze by Christina Lauren
The push to wrap-up the year with a bang is on. I have just a few more books to go before I meet my Goodreads reading goal of 222 books (I know – I really need a life). “Witchcraft for Wayward Girls” by Grady Hendrix is probably my most anticipated read. It releases in January and I’ve had the ARC forever. SO excited to dive in. I’m also really looking forward to Marc J. Gregson’s “Among Serpents” which is the second book in the “Above the Black” series.
Other books I’m looking forward to are “I Might be in Trouble” by Daniel Aleman. I’ve seen great reviews for this one and was happy it was an add-on through Book of the Month. I also picked “Definitely Better Now” by Ava Robinson through Book of the Month. My last hopeful is “Dancing on Broken Glass by Ka Hancock. I’ve had this book forever and had it on my 24 in 2024 reading challenge list. Once I’ve finished this book, I will have successfully completed that challenge. Yay for clearing a few more books off the TBR!
Other books I’m hoping to get to this month include:
- What it’s Like in Words by Eliza Moss (One of my Aardvark book box picks this month)
- Private Rites by Julia Armfield (Another Aardvark book box pick)
- Beautiful Ugly by Alice Feeney (Another BOTM pick)
- A Home for the Holidays by Taylor Hahn (Another BOTM pick)
- The In-Between Bookstore by Edward Underhill (ARC)
- Vantage Point by Sara Sliger (ARC)
- The Really Dead Wives of New Jersey by Astrid Dahl (ARC)
- Several other ARCS as time allows.
